Hello,

 

My name is Helen Jackson and I run The Little Owl Art Studio at Rothwell Barn, in Much Hoole, near Preston, Lancashire. The business was established in 2013 and was born from my passion for Art & Design. This began at an early age and has continued to develop ever since. I studied Fine Art at Reading University. I then went on to do a PGCE in Secondary Art & Design Education. I enjoy teaching people of all ages, abilities and from different walks of life.

 

Prior to opening the studio, I was a school teacher with over 14 years experience, including Primary, Middle, Secondary, ‘A’ Level and Yr 14 Foundation Studies in Art & Design. For 10 years of my school teaching career I was Head of a thriving Art & Design Department in a local Secondary School; which included a highly successful black and white and digital photography course.

 

It was always my dream to open my own art studio. When we purchased Rothwell Barn; a former dairy barn dating back to 1840, I finally had the space to do it! Having also become disheartened with the current education system but still thoroughly enjoying working with young people and helping them to excel in Art & Design, I decided it was the perfect time to make my dream become a reality.

Whilst progressing forward with plans for my studio I remembered how on many occasions parents had walked into my art department at school and were in awe of the artwork created by the talented students and often commented to me "I wish I could go back to school and make artwork like this", so I thought why let the children have all the fun, lets open up The Little Owl Art Studio to adults as well!

 

I am incredibly passionate about Art & Design and Photography. I continue to produce my own work from the studio and everyday I count myself lucky to be able to combine everything I enjoy doing from this superb location.

 

I am committed to Safeguarding and I hold a current DBS Certificate and a Lancashire For Schools First Aid Certificate.
